LISD Invites Community to Create Strategic Direction:

Making an Impact for Generations to Come

The Lexington Independent School District is launching a strategic design process to create a community inspired vision and direction for LISD. During this school year, the district has focused on making an impact on the student learning experience, as well as an impact for teachers by providing effective tools and resources.

To launch this strategic design process, LISD is hosting a series of community-wide education summits. The two summits will be held throughout the district and community. Times and locations are listed below.

April 7

Location: Lexington United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 508 N. Rockdale St.

Times: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Pizza will be provided

April 7

Location: Lexington Elementary School Cafeteria, 222 Fifth St.

Times: 6-8 p.m.

Snacks and drinks will be provided

During these summits, citizens will have the opportunity to hear more about this strategic design process, as well as share their highest hopes and aspirations for their children. In an effort to develop a much needed and long-term strategic direction, LISD encourages all community members to attend at least one summit.

After the summits, a series of focus groups will be held to gather additional input. The district will hold focus groups for students, parents, community members and staff. Also, an online survey will be available for citizens to contribute their thoughts. The survey dates are April 7th-21st and will be posted at www.lexingtonisd.net as well as on all campus websites.

Information, feedback and input gathered at the summits, focus groups and online will be used by a strategic design team comprised of citizens who will create a community inspired strategic direction that will make a great impact on all students and staff for the next five years. This strategic direction will include a set of community beliefs, vision, goals and action steps. Additionally, it will allow LISD to measure student learning and serve as a guide for the district as it makes future decisions regarding instruction, budgeting, staffing and facility planning.

As the district embarks on this process, all summits, documents and resources will be posted online at www.lexintongisd.net for community members to stay informed.
