Weather Related School Changes - Updated 2/17 2:00pm

LISD Families,

What a crazy week!  I hope all of you are well, and that you and your families have enjoyed the snow.  I hope our families without power and water quickly have those restored, and I hope all of you have found some blessings out of the crazy times we are experiencing.

Out of caution and a desire to keep everyone safe, LISD will be closed through Friday, February 19, 2021.  We will resume classes on Monday, February 22, 2021.  We will not offer remote instruction at all this week, due to the power outages, internet issues and water pipe damage many are experiencing.  Just take care of your home and your family, we will sort everything else out later.

TEA announced today that they will offer a waiver for these days, so we will submit that as soon as we get board approval and hope it gets approved by the state.  If it is approved, these missed days and instructional minutes will  not have to be recovered.  I will keep you posted on the response from the state.

I have said all year, "we will get through this together".  While that was intended to reference COVID, I know that it is the truth about whatever comes our way because we are all BETTER TOGETHER!  Stay safe and stay warm!

IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE AN EAGLE!

LISD Parents and Community,

Due to the current inclement weather and the forecast of additional freezing precipitation, Lexington ISD will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  We will not offer remote instruction as a result of the numerous power and internet outages caused by this winter storm.  We have students and staff currently without power or water.  We want our families to focus on the safety and well-being of their families, and we will work out the rest.  Currently, we will plan on attending school on Friday, but we will announce any changes for Friday as the week progresses. The district will provide information about how these days will be counted after our return to school next week.  We are hoping the Commissioner will give some waivers due to the state declaration of emergency.  But we also have some remaining banked minutes to consider for use.  The district will communicate how this impacts the calendar after our return.  I hope you all enjoy the beautiful snow and your time with your family! Stay safe and stay warm!!
