Love is in the air, and unfortunately so are lots of germs. We are fighting to keep everyone healthy in the district. The custodial staff is working hard to disinfect daily by wiping down desks, tables, door knobs and light switches, in addition to their normal cleaning tasks. February is traditionally one of the lowest attendance months of the year, and we are trying to fight that trend. So far we have been able to keep our attendance rates up, and we are monitoring them daily for any dips or issues. Remember that if your child is sick or running a temperature, we are asking that you keep them home to help prevent additional sickness. We are ready for some sunshine and warmer temperatures to get us out of this season!
If you haven’t had a chance to stop by the baseball and softball fields, you should take a drive by. Thank you to the athletic booster, the coaches and the many local companies who donated their time and materials to provide new backstops, new netting, and lot of additional concrete for each facility. The grounds and maintenance staff has also worked hard to get the infield and outfields looking amazing as we begin these seasons. The softball field is also going to get a new scoreboard thanks to the donation of Round Top State Bank. (It should be here before the end of the season!) The facilities look great! Good luck to our student athletes! Go Eagles and Lady Eagles!!!
Our facilities committee is working hard to write a long-range facilities plan for the district. We met on February 4th and will meet again on February 25th. At the Feb 4th meeting, the engineer spent time explaining his preliminary findings while evaluating the facilities in the district. While the results gave us a lot to discuss, we are working on prioritizing the needs across the district. We will start writing the plan at the Feb 25th meeting as we focus in on the level 1 priorities. As we see it for now, a cafetorium and some safety issues are rising to the top as the priorities in the district. We will discuss how we want to proceed in the plan and what will be taken to the board for approval at the Feb 25th meeting. I encourage everyone to come be a part of this process and give your input into the decisions. February 25th at 6:00pm at the central office. I hope to see you there!
The calendar for next year will be voted on by the staff this month, and we will take it to the board for approval in March. Watch for those updates!
If I can do anything to assist you or your student, or to answer any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!
As always, IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE AN EAGLE!!
