This is my favorite time of the year. It is so much fun to see the excitement on the faces of all of our students (and staff) as they eagerly await the holiday break and Christmas time with their families. I love the lights, trees, and decorations that bring a spirit of fun and happiness. More than anything else, I love this time of year for the reminder that it gives us all of the blessings that we have in this life.
This month brings lots of events and activities in the district. We have basketball in full swing. LMS basketball games are on Monday nights, and LHS plays on Tuesdays and Fridays, in addition to tournaments that are also on the schedule. I encourage you to check the LISD website for a full list of dates and locations for games. GO BIG GREEN!!!
In addition to athletics, we also have lots of other activities. The LMS One Act Play students will give a public performance on Saturday, Dec 8th at the YAC at 7:00pm. LES will host the PTO Family Fun Night on December 6th. Don’t miss this fun and exciting time! This year, we will host other districts at LES for the elementary academic UIL meet on December 11th. Due to the impact of having those other districts on campus, and needing staff to man the competition, we will have an early release on this day. The LMS One Act play will compete in the UIL competition on December 12th. Our LMS students will compete in academic UIL competition in Rockdale on December 13th.
Students and staff will be dismissed on an early release schedule on December 19th for the Christmas break holidays. Staff members will return to campus on January 7th. Students will return for the second semester on January 8th.
As we near the holiday break, I wish each student, staff member and community member a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
